I believe that every little girl should have their own dolls house and be able to fill it with the dolls house furniture of their choice. I’ve got really fond memories of the dolls house that I had as a child and the special time that I had playing with my toy.

There is something about dolls houses that is pure magic for little and not so little girls. Perhaps it’s because it’s a girls first stab at creating a home and not just a home a controlled environment where everybody is happy in the dolls house world.

I was thrilled when my granddaughter was born and have been waiting until she was old enough to buy her a gift of her own special dolls house. She has had the plastic toddler dolls houses but now she is old enough for that special one.

The last dolls house that she can buy and make doll house furniture for, decorate and make soft furnishings – and I know just the grandma to help her!

I had a look around and was astonished at the wide selection there is to choose from nowadays. Apart from traditional doll houses that look very much like the one that I had as a child, you can buy wooden dolls houses, Barbie houses, period dolls homes and now even an eco friendly solar powered dolls house has come on the market. Made from eco friendly fast growing sustainable bamboo and that includes the dolls house furniture.

I can’t make my mind up which one to buy my granddaughter but you can be sure that we will enjoy turning it into a special little play home.
